Track Long List and Qualification Criteria for Commonwealth Games 2018

The Commonwealth Games 2018 will take place on Australia’s Gold Coast in Queensland from 4-15 April 2018. The Track cycling events will take place at the Anna Meares Velodrome from 5-8 April. Cycling South Africa’s objective for Track Cycling is to select competitive men and women’s Team Pursuit and Team Sprint teams, while also allowing these riders to participate in the other events during the Games.

After a long but gripping week of tough racing, the SA National Track Omnium Championships tested the legs of those still standing at the Bellville Velodrome in the Western Cape on Saturday 9 April. The “Jack Russel of the Track” David Maree rode an impressive four rides to come out on top with the points to seal the Omnium title. Nolan Hoffman fought hard to an impressive second and Gert Fouche finished in third.
