On 5 September, young mountain bikers will descend on Mokopane for the “Tour de Pot”, the third leg in the Limpopo DebtSafe Schools MTB Series.
The increasingly popular series has seen hundreds of learners from schools in the province participate since the beginning of the year.
The Tour de Pot will be held at the Mokopane Biodiversity Conservation Centre, and secondary as well as primary schools are invited to take part. The participants will compete on a 4km to 6km XCO course, depending on their ages.
Great prizes are up for grabs and the top cyclists will represent Limpopo at the Spur National Championships in Magaliesburg later this year.
“Mountain biking is one of South Africa’s fastest growing sports because it promotes a healthy and active lifestyle. You can do it alone or with your friends and if you want to, you can involve your whole family to participate, everyone in his or her own level,” says Hein du Plessis, MD of DebtSafe.
“DebtSafe is passionate about promoting a healthy lifestyle as well as providing healthy competition platforms for children. When children are encouraged to be healthy and fit, they generally blossom in all aspects of their lives,” he says.
