3500 riders from all over the world will compete for the Rainbow Jersey in all the different age groups in the Road Race on Sunday 2 September. The race route has two different distances, as per UCI Regulation: 135 kilometres and 1950 metres of elevation gain for all men under 60 and women under 50; and 105 kilometres and 1450 metres for all the other race classes.

The hilly course has three major climbs across the three main valleys around Varese, all within the first half. The second part is undulated along the several lakes surrounding Varese, including Lake Ceresio, Lago Maggiore and Lake Varese. Fully closed roads immersed in the forest, across quiet villages with a hilltop finish in Varese town Center, makes it the perfect course for a memorable Gran Fondo World Championship!*
