Infinita Junior Team headed for KZN Summer Series

The KZN Summer Series for Men will take place in Pietermaritzburg on 25 and 26 March 2017. Entries have been exceptional with 25 teams taking part overall. Of the teams taking part, there are five Junior road cycling teams. Included in the Junior team line-up, is Nelspruit-based Infinita Junior Team.

The Infinita Junior Team say that they will be racing from kilometre one. Team Coach and Manager, Bosseau Boshoff says he’s thrilled to be bringing the team to the Summer Series. “They’re all excited for it, and it’ll be good to see them racing up against guys like Devin Shortt and Jason Oosthuizen,” he added.

Boshoff has been dreaming of forming a team for a while, and chatted about the idea behind the formation of the team: “It’s been a long time coming. I noticed that there had been a lack of Junior riders at events compared to some in the past. Back in the day we used to see between 100 and 150 Junior riders on the start line. At the National Road Champs, for example, there were under 50 riders.

“It isn’t very often that you find six really talented young riders that all have such a passion for the sport and live in the same province. I coach all of them at the academy (Infinita Cycling Academy) as well. We managed to get really great sponsors on board and the preparation began.”

The members of the team get along very well, and are very committed to their racing. “All of them have the bigger picture in mind, and are fully committed to making their dreams of joining international teams in Europe a possibility,” said Boshoff.

Boshoff went on to thank the sponsors of the team (Galito’s Flame Grilled Chicken, Cool Air, G.A.S.P, Helivac EMS and Panda Sportswear) who made his dream a reality.

He also spoke briefly about the high number of Junior riders at mountain biking events: “There are plenty Juniors at these racing with the power, I would really recommend that they come and give road cycling a try.”

The KZN Summer Series for Men will comprise of two separate races (with individual prize money) which make up a series, meaning that entrants will need to take part in both races in order to earn points towards overall prizes.
