CYCLINGSA TO MEET WITH GOVERNMENT TO DISCUSS ROAD SAFETY CONCERNS

CyclingSA is deeply concerned and aggrieved by the rising number of tragic and often fatal road incidents involving cyclists in recent months. Commuter and recreational cyclists put their lives at risk every time they get on our roads, which cannot continue.

A key objective of CyclingSA is to grow cycling in South Africa, but road safety will continue to be a deterrent until positive change is implemented.

Together with government and the relevant stakeholders in our community, CyclingSA will address the road safety issues at a national, provincial and local level to establish ways to bring safety to our roads and promote integrated transport and mobility for all South Africans.

“This is a matter of grave concern to us as an organisation, and indeed I believe it is for the government too. We will be failing in our responsibility if we don’t act on this as a matter of urgency. CyclingSA has a critical role to play in road safety for cyclists, and it is essential we work together with the relevant government departments to make the roads safer for all cyclists, both recreational and commuter.” said Qondisa Ngwenya, Vice President of CyclingSA.
