Cycling South Africa expresses our deepest condolences to the families and friends of Jared Dwyer (36) of Glenwood and Richard da Silva (46) of Glen Anil in KwaZulu-Natal, whose lives were taken so tragically on Sunday 7 February 2016.
Being on South Africa’s roads poses a risk for every single road user, whether a pedestrian, cyclist, motorist, public transporter or truck driver, but cyclists fall prey so easily at the hands of negligent motorists.
Cycling South Africa appeals to all road users to exercise mutual respect for fellow road users, and to “be patient, be polite and be prepared”. We appeal to motorists to be aware of cyclists, and to all cyclists to go about your training rides with caution and to remain vigilant to the hazards of the road.
