The 2015 BMX National Age Group (N.A.G) Championship Series (Legs 1-3) take place at Germiston BMX Club in Delville, Gauteng, from 25-26 April. Entries for the event close at midnight tonight (Monday 20 April 2015).
Riders from the age of under-five all the way up to the over 45 classes will be able to race and enjoy what the event has to offer. William Jackson, who received a World number 6 at the BMX World Champs last year in the 45 and Over Cruiser Men category, is fired up and ready to race this weekend.
“I feel like I’m as ready as I can be. I would like to have put in a few more hours of gym work here and there, but I have been very busy, I still feel good though,” he said.
Jackson has always loved riding, and used to compete a few years back. “I’ve always enjoyed being on the bike. I used to compete quite a bit in the 80s,” he said.
“I took my kids to the track when they were about six or seven to see if they would enjoy riding, and simply loved the feeling of being there. Fifteen odd years later, the kids have left the house and here I am, still racing.
“I love that track as well and try to go there for practice every Tuesday and Thursday. It’s just such a fantastic sport, and amazing for the whole family,” he said.
Things are looking good for Jackson this season and, when he is ready, he is eager to leave the competitive scene with a bang.
“I always look forward to these events and next up is the next N.A.G series in July and then the SA Champs in September. At my last event I missed out on first place. I feel the need to give it my all and reclaim that title before calling it a day,” he concluded.
