South Africa to Host the CAC MTB African Championships 2023.
South Africa is proud to announce that it will host the CAC Mountain Bike African Championships 2023 in both Cross-Country Olympic (XCO) and Cross-Country Short Track (XCC) disciplines at Thaba Trails Gauteng from second to fourth of June 2023, powered by Balwin Sport, in association with Computer Mania. The event promises to be a spectacular showcase of elite mountain bike racing and a celebration of the sport’s growth and diversity on the African continent.
The CAC MTB African Championships 2023 XCO and XCC will bring together the best mountain bikers from across Africa to compete in thrilling races that combine speed, skill, and endurance. The courses at Thaba Trails Gauteng have been designed to challenge the riders’ technical and physical abilities, with fast descents, steep climbs, and technical features that require precise handling.

Thaba Trails Gauteng is a world-class mountain bike park located on the southern outskirts of Johannesburg. It offers a variety of trails for all levels of riders, from beginner to expert, and has hosted numerous provincial and national events over the years including the 2023 MTB national championships last month. The venue provides an excellent infrastructure for the 2023 AFCON, including parking, catering, and spectator facilities.

The CAC MTB African Championships at Thaba Trails Gauteng will feature individual competitions in the UCI categories, including Elite, Under-23, and Junior. Only Elite riders (19+ years) will compete for the title of XCC African Champion. The event will be sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and the Confederation Africaine de Cyclisme (CAC).
Entries are open to all UCI categories via: http://www.cyclingsa-events.co.za – riders who are not selected for Team SA, can enter and participate. Entries will close on 22 May 2023.
