KZN Crit Series boosts south coast cycling development”

The 2015 ChainworX KZN Crit Series is back, and said to be even bigger and better than ever. Consisting of four criterium racing events taking place at the Dezzi Raceway in Port Shepstone, one event will be held each month from May to August. Entries for first leg taking place on 16 May are open.

The race route is a totally closed off racing circuit, which is dedicated solely to riders ensuring optimal safety on race day. All ages and bikes are welcome to get in on the action and to stake a claim of the R10000 prize money that is up-for-grabs at each event. Please note that all young age categories must ride with restricted gears, and roll in will be carried out before each event. Racing starts at 08:00 with registration taking place at 07:00.

A Team Time Trial will take place after the Series racing and entries will be accepted on the day for those interested in participating.

KZN Cycling, with the support of KwaZulu-Natal Sport and Recreation, handed over 50 bicycles to the South Coast region at the KZN Autumn Series in Margate on 2 May. This was the start of their plan to get more and more youngsters onto bicycles in order to develop the athletes from the south coast region. The young recipients of the bicycles will be racing in the ChainworX KZN Series in the coming months.
