Entries open for 2016 SA Road, TT and Para-cycling Champs (KwaZulu-Natal)

Entries are open for the 2016 SA National Road, Time Trial and Para-cycling Championships, which will take place in KwaZulu-Natal, from 10-14 February. The prestigious event on the national cycling calendar is the showcase of road cycling in South Africa.

Top professional local riders take part for the chance to earn the National Championship title and the coveted National Champion Jersey. The event promises to be recognised as the ultimate road cycling event, not only for its toughness, but also for the sheer challenge.

The SA National Road Championships will once again be staged in KwaZulu–Natal with a four-day competition programme over a five-day period. The event dates are 10–14 February with the time trial competitions being staged on 10 and 11 February and the road races all happening on 13 and 14 February.

There will be two competition sites in 2016 with the time trial taking place in the Wartburg / Noodsburg / Harburg area utilising the same time trial routes as were used for the 2015 African Continental Road Championships with some shortened distances for some of the junior and master categories and the road races will be staged in the Westville (Durban) area using predominantly the same routes with some minor adjustments as were used when the National Championships were last staged in Durban in 2014.

It is planned to stage both the time trial and road race competitions for the Para-cycling division in Wartburg on 10 and 11 February.

Once again, the championship event will cater for all road cycling categories incorporating the Elite Men and Women, U23 Men, Junior Men and Women, Masters Men and Women, Para-cycling and Tandems. Although competing along the same routes, each category will race within their required distances.

Please note that the U10-U14 participants will be awarded age group trophies and specially made cycling jerseys, but will not be awarded an SA title.
