PARALYMPIC MEDALIST HONOURED AT THE SA SPORTS AWARDS

Pieter du Preez, current Paralympic Champion, was honoured as ‘Sportsman of the Year with a Disability’ at the prestigious SA Sports Awards ceremony held in Durban on Saturday night.

Sportsman of the Year with a Disability nominees: Pieter Du Preez (Cycling), Ntando Mahlangu (Athletics) and Mpumelelo Mhlongo (Athletics).

Du Preez won the gold medal in the Men’s H1 Individual Time Trial at the Tokyo Paralympic Games in 2021, adding to his impressive gold medal ride at the 2021 Para-Cycling World Championships in Portugal in June, becoming the first South African to achieve this feat.

Pieter has won 14 World Championships medals in both Athletics and Cycling over his career, including 6 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze medals.
