CyclingSA is the national governing body of the sport of cycling in South Africa and is affiliated to the International Cycling Union (UCI), South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC). Though not limited to, it governs 5 disciplines, road cycling, mountain biking (MTB), track cycling, bicycle motocross (BMX), para-cycling, its national championships and teams. It has 9 provincial affiliates with 10 additional regional affiliations and makes provision for other associate members within the sport of cycling.

In this role you will be required to focus on:
- Planning and managing multiple media including, social editorial calendars (across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin and YouTube), including planning, briefing, posting, optimising, and analysing content across all channels.
- Seeking out, collaborating, and leading on the writing of social and blog copy. Editing, publishing, and managing the editorial, optimising for search and user experience.
- Generating positive news coverage, achieving free content placement in broadcast, print and new media.
- Research, write and distribute press releases to targeted media and promote news stories to the media.
- Develop strong relationships and networks with colleagues, and the media.
- Leading on social media community building, responding to comments and queries on each channel within 24 hours, advising Provincial leadership teams on how to develop their Provincial channels, and advising on any social media enquiries.
- Tracking and reporting on content metrics from Cycling South Africa platforms and 3rd party platforms, providing feedback and regular reports to the Secretary General on key project performance and generate insights which enable the design of new content formats and distribution methods.
- Leading the sourcing, briefing and direction of third-party content producers (including video production companies, editors, designers, photographers and writers) to make content which helps transform South Africa into a great cycling nation.
- Managing position relevant events such as press conferences and promotional events.
- Managing the PR aspect of any potential crisis situations.
Key requirements are:
- Degree level qualification in Communications/PR and content management OR equivalent relevant work experience
- Proven experience of working in social media.
- Excellent writing skills
- Experience using reporting tools such as Google Analytics
- Proven background in social media distribution and conducting data analytics
- The ability to brief and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to act as the authority within Cycling South Africa on content best practice and digital trends providing guidance to colleagues across to business as required.
- Skills in DSLR video, photography, audio, and editing will be a considered plus.
Additional information:
- The position is full time
- We will consider applicants based in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
- Salary will be industry based and competitive.
- Successful candidate will work in a hybrid (home+ office) environment but will also be expected to travel and work outside of normal working hours, inclusive of weekends. The details will be negotiated with the appointed candidate.
- Ability to travel locally will be an advantage.

Areas of responsibility for this position include:
National Team
Selections
- Ensure a formal team selection is received as signed off by the President (riders + staff)
- Communicate with riders / staff once selections have been announced and inform them of any special terms / conditions. (E.g. in the case of self-funded projects).
- Collect bio data and copy of passports (assistance by office administrator)
- Complete the SASCOC Colours application document and submit together with supporting documentation via the Secretary General.
Logistics
- Process entries and accreditations as per UCI requirements
- Booking of accommodation and hired vehicles.
- Coordination of flight bookings of teams.
- Appointment of the team management (through commissions)
- Order and distribution of national kit (as per the national policy).
Budget Management
- Ensure that a budget had been approved by the President, Secretary General and Discipline Director.
- Coordination of invoices to riders for self-funded expenses.
- Coordination of payments to service providers.
National Championships
- Ensure the events are listed / planned / coordinated.
- Provide assistance to riders with their entries / international riders who are unable to enter via the system and ensure that a manual entry file is added to the entry file once entries are closed.
- Capturing of data / start lists and results onto the UCI Data Ride
- Prepare the entry file, check licenses and UCI ID’s before sending off to the Timekeepers and UCI Commissaires.
- Order and distribute medals to the various event organizers.
- Order of the SA Championship jerseys.
- Submission of race results to UCI for Road, Track, MTB, BMX & Para-Cycling
National Calendar
- Coordinate event sanctioning / App management (local/international)
- Manage Calendar issues/sanctioning (local/international)
- Event calendar, loading of events on CSA and UCI calendar (All disciplines)
- Load and open online entries of national champs (Road, Track, MTB, BMX & Para-Cycling)
Technical Administration
- Work closely with the technical commission to ensure the unbiased appointment of President Commissaires for all national and international level events (E.g. A category / UCI / Cups / National events).
- Coordinate a technical observer for all National Championship Events.
- Assist the technical commission with general administration tasks and the coordination appointments.
Communication
- Coordination of information pertaining to the delivery of services, products and activities to all member, affiliate and stakeholder groups.
Key requirements:
- National Diploma in Sport Management or equivalent working experience
- Interest and enthusiasm for the 5 disciplines in Cycling (Road, MTB, Paracycling, Track and BMX)
- Good spoken communication skills.

JOB PROFILE
Interaction:

Areas of responsibility for this position include:
- Coordination of national support staff capacity building programmes and training.
- Project management, coordination, and administration.
- Oversee and manage fundraising campaigns, sponsorship proposals and the application and reporting of grants received through government or external benefactors.
- Assess reputable service providers /project coordinators/training, facilitators.
- Coordinate activity and roll-out of project plans by ensuring the smooth coordination, and management of project status reports with the relevant commissions.
- When necessary, create and maintain updated tools, templates and formats as needed to facilitate the project management of the different areas under the responsibility.
- Apply for event permission and make sure that compliance of all legislation.
Management of CyclingSA DigiCademy:
The DigiCademy of CyclingSA will offer tutorial and theoretical training electronically with online and in-person exit exams.
- Work closely with the relevant commissions to create, coordinate and maintain content relevant to the capacity building program.
- Online management and assistance of participants.
- Coordination of in-person sessions and courses as may be required per level of each programme and exit exams.
- Coordination of certification and assistance with licensing applications of qualified individuals for the relevant programmes.
Communication Management:
- Administer and coordinate all electronic communication needs linked to all the youth, transformation, development, and capacity building campaigns.
- Work on CRM and external service providers to implement campaign mailer programmes and CRM workflows.
- Coordinate the development of campaign tools such as mailer programmes, digital assets, copywriting, marketing plans.
- Work closely with the PR team/ Communications Manager to manage social media communications and campaigns pertaining to the projects forming part of diversity.
REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
- A University degree or equivalent qualification in Sports Management or business.
- At least 5 years of professional experience, with an emphasis on experience in Sport, project management and reporting (experience in cycling management will be an advantage).
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent Command of key MS Office tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc).
- Advanced command of Excel.
- Strong administration skills.
- Ability to work and manage teams working remotely.
- An understanding of the different areas of expertise and types of support staff required in cycling will be an advantage.
