ABOUT CYCLING SOUTH AFRICA

Cycling SA is the national governing body of the sport of cycling in South Africa and is affiliated to the International Cycling Union (UCI), South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC). Though not limited to, it governs 5 disciplines, road cycling, mountain biking (MTB), track cycling, bicycle motocross (BMX), para-cycling, its national championships and teams. It has 9 provincial affiliates with 10 additional regional affiliations and makes provision for other associate members within the sport of cycling.

As an NPO organisation, Cycling SA wants to build a strong, financially sustainable federation and a leading partner to stakeholders, inspiring a diverse nation from grassroot levels to ride bicycles, race and be a united community. 

In this role you will be required to focus on:

Brand and Business Development

     ·        Planning and managing business development and brand channels

    ·       Develop, align and optimize the CSA assets through a sustainable commercial model and plans whilst building the brand of Cycling in South Africa.

     ·        Develop strong relationships and networks with colleagues, current and the potential partners.

    ·       Increase the revenues from these assets by securing new partners and sponsors for CSA through      preparation of proposals and marketing to targeted prospects.

     ·       Build relationships with prospects until the finalization of an agreement, understand and ensure the maintenance of partner needs with the support of internal teams.

         Collaborate with all CSA departments to structure and develop new assets with high commercial potential, identify suitable event partners for commercial and/value in kind support.

 ·       Oversee the promotion CSA’s marketing, digital and media solutions, liaise with media broadcasters to secure local and international commitments for broadcast and distribution.

 ·   Give guidance and leadership to the various departments, commissions and committees toward the achievement of CSA’s philosophy, vision, mission, strategy and its annual goals and objectives

 Corporate Services Management:
·   Directly oversee the financial department of CSA and assist in financial management inclusive planning, budgetary goal setting and reporting whilst ensuring the prudent management of CSA resources within the legal guidelines of and sound financial principles.
·   Working with the VP of Sport and Technical and management, oversee the management, planning and preparation of the teams travelling to the all World Championships 2023 and Paris Olympic Games 2024, and together lay the foundation team (riders and management) for the 2028 Olympics.
· Working with the Secretary General build, and foster stronger relationships with Department of Sport, Art and Culture, SASCOC, UCI, Corporates and other governmental departments
·  Together with the Secretary General build a strong governance structure and administrative team.
 

Key requirements are:

·       Degree level qualification in Sport Business Management OR equivalent relevant work experience

·       Proven experience in Event and Sports property marketing, specifically designing and creating commercial packages for sponsorship sales.

·       Ability liaise (at Executive level) with potential and current sponsorship partners of Cycling SA.

·       Excellent strategy planning, presentation and writing skills

·       Proven and demonstrable understanding and knowledge of the business of Cycling

·       Ability to manage and handle PR and Communications (the incumbent may be required to act as a spokesperson for Cycling SA from time to time)

·       The ability to brief and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Additional information:

·       The position is full time/ Consulting  

·       We will consider applicants based in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

·       Salary will be industry based and competitive.

·       Successful candidate will work in a hybrid (home+ office) environment but will also be expected to travel and work outside of normal working hours, inclusive of weekends.  The details will be negotiated with the appointed candidate.

·       Ability to travel locally and internationally will be an advantage.
