Cycling South Africa is elated to announce that the 2024 Youth National Championships will be hosted by Eden district in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape. The event, scheduled to take place from September 27th to September 29th, promises to be an exhilarating showcase of youthful talent and passion for the sport.
This year’s championships will see a dynamic mix of events, taking cycling directly to the people of Oudtshoorn. The Time Trial event will traverse the picturesque Cango Caves Road, offering a challenging yet breathtaking course for competitors. The Crit, an exciting event that encapsulates the essence of community spirit, will be held at the Oudtshoorn Community Hall, ensuring that cycling resonates at the heart of the local residents.
“We are honoured to host the 2024 Youth National Championships here in Eden district,” said Corne Bence, organizer of the event. “This year, we are particularly excited to bring cycling closer to the community by hosting events in easily accessible locations. We believe that by engaging with the local community, we can inspire more young individuals to embrace the sport and lead active, healthy lifestyles.”
The Road Races, set against the stunning backdrop of the Swartberg Mountains and Cango Caves, will offer a unique route that challenges participants with more climbing opportunities. This alteration promises an even more thrilling and demanding competition for cyclists across all categories.
The championships will feature categories for young riders aged u11, u13, u15, and u17, ensuring that the event caters to a diverse range of talent and age groups. With a focus on fostering a competitive yet supportive environment, the 2024 Youth National Championships aim to nurture the next generation of cycling champions.
