Cyclist Monqoba Priest Madida Receives 3-Year Suspension for Doping Violation

Cycling South Africa confirms that cyclist Monqoba Priest Madida has been issued a three-year suspension following a violation of anti-doping regulations. The infraction was identified during an in-competition drug test, which detected the presence of a prohibited substance or its metabolites in his sample.

Cycling South Africa remains unwavering in its commitment to preserving the integrity of the sport and fostering a drug-free environment for all athletes. To this end, we work closely with the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) to implement and enforce stringent anti-doping protocols. We strongly condemn the use of prohibited substances and urge all athletes to adhere to anti-doping rules, both in and out of competition.

Athletes are reminded of their responsibility to remain informed about the list of prohibited substances and updates, which are available on the SAIDS and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) websites: www.drugfreesport.org.za. Vigilance in monitoring substances consumed is critical to avoiding inadvertent violations of anti-doping regulations.

Cycling South Africa respects the independence and thoroughness of the SAIDS investigation and supports the outcome of their findings. Our zero-tolerance policy toward doping reflects our dedication to promoting clean and fair competition.

In addition to rigorous testing, Cycling South Africa is committed to enhancing awareness of the dangers of doping through educational initiatives. We will continue to work collaboratively with SAIDS to safeguard the values of fair play and sportsmanship, ensuring the integrity of cycling in South Africa.

End.
