Following the recent National Track Cycling Indaba, CyclingSA has made the decision to implement changes with regards to the Youth Track Gearing Restrictions. This decision was accepted unanimously by all the Provincial Track Representatives with the hopes of Growing Track Cycling in South Africa.
These changes will come into effect immediately.
The new restrictions will give our riders a wider range of gearing from which to choose and help to ease the barrier of entry into track cycling for youth riders. This decision will also enable riders and coaches to have more gear choices to match the rider’s capabilities with the events they wish to compete in.
It was felt that it was important at this stage to still have restrictions in place so as to ensure that there is still a strong focus on leg speed for the youth riders.
