Cycling South Africa Announces Team for UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships

Cycling South Africa is excited to announce our team for the UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships, taking place in Snowshoe, USA, on September 21. This prestigious event will see riders from around the globe competing for the coveted rainbow jersey on the demanding Snowshoe Marathon course. Spanning 100km with 2275 meters of ascent, the course challenges riders to navigate around the mountain and through the rugged Monongahela National Forest.

For elite racers, this is the ultimate test, offering one shot at glory and the renowned rainbow stripes. Spectators can expect a spectacular display of endurance and skill as competitors battle for victory and national pride.

Candice Lill is aiming to improve on her impressive second-place finish in 2023 behind Austria’s Mona Mitterwallner. Lill has already demonstrated remarkable form this year, securing podium finishes in two UCI World Series XCO events.

In the Elite Men’s category, Matt Beers stands out as a key contender. Beers has made the XCM his primary focus for the year, having spent the early 2024 racing season in the USA with the Specialized Offroad team. His victories include the Belgium Waffle Ride and three wins at the Absa Cape Epic.

Riders were selected either through the Cycling SA selection criteria or the UCI Marathon Regulations. We extend our best wishes to all our riders as they prepare for the championships.
