Cycling South Africa is proud to announce the riders selected to represent our country at the 2024 MTB World Championships. Set in the stunning mountains of Andorra, the championships will take place from August 26 to September 1 in the Pal sector, bringing together the world’s best for one of the most anticipated events of the season.
Andorra will host a variety of MTB disciplines including Cross-Country Olympic (XCO), Short-Track, Relay, E-MTB, and Downhill (DHI) with our talented aiming to make their mark on the global stage.
The selection of the team is based on the Mountain Bike Selection Criteria published in December 2023. It incorporates a pathway to qualification and selection via domestic competitions and National Championships as well as recognising international performances at UCI World Cups, Class 1 and Class 2 events, thus giving riders several opportunities to meet performance criteria. The selection policies can be found on the Cycling SA website: Cycling SA Policies.
Building on our recent successes in the UCI World Series in Les Gets, where Greg Minnaar secured a bronze medal, Candice Lill claimed silver, and Alan Hatherly achieved a remarkable double gold in both Short-Track and XCO, our team is poised for strong performances at the World Championships.
