Cycling South Africa welcomes Cherise Willeit as the new PR and Communications Manager.
Cherise is not new to the sport as she started cycling at the age of nine years and rode professionally for over ten years. After finishing 2nd at Junior World Champs, she also rode for Lotto Belisol for three years during which she won a stage in the “La route de France” and finished top 10 in the Giro del Donne. With six National Champion titles in road cycling and mountain biking, Cherise also represented South Africa at the Beijing Olympic Games and three Commonwealth Games.
Cherise and her family returned to South Africa earlier this year, having been based in Germany since 2018. During the past 10 years, Cherise has managed a women’s cycling team, been involved in digital content creation and marketing cycling initiatives.
This appointment aims at being more rider centric in the way we communicate. Cherise has a passion for cycling and to tell the stories of our athletes. With her bubbling personality she finds it easy to communicate and to form relationships with people. As a driven individual with a professional background in the sport, Cherise’s experience and sound knowledge of the industry will make a contribution to the next growth phase Cycling SA now enters.
