The 2024 Gravel National Championships took place alongside the King Price Race 2 the Sun on May 11th, starting at the picturesque Hartebeespoort Dam. This gruelling event spanned 100 miles with 860 meters of ascent, challenging riders with its demanding terrain. The weather cooperated beautifully, providing an absolutely stunning backdrop for the day’s racing.
The event featured highly competitive fields across all categories, with the rough and corrugated roads playing a significant role in determining the champions. It was a race of attrition that tested the endurance and skill of every participant.
In the Elite Men’s category, Marc Pritzen emerged victorious after an intense two-way battle with Marco Joubert. Pritzen’s resilience and tactical prowess ultimately secured him the top spot on the podium.
The Elite Women’s race culminated in a dramatic six-way sprint, with Danielle Strydom crossing the finish line first. Strydom’s powerful sprint finish showcased her exceptional strength and racing acumen.
