2022 SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS

After an unprecedented two year gap due to Covid-19, The South African National Track Championships are back and set to take place from 28 -31 March 2022 at the much loved and historic Bellville Velodrome. 

This event sees cyclists from around the country converging on this iconic stadium in their quest to become National Champions. Built in 1999 as part of Cape Town’s bid to host the 2004 Olympics, this multifunctional facility is the home of track cycling in South Africa.

Racing will take place over 4 days, starting at 9 am and finishing at 9 pm, with a 2-hour break in between. There will be a mix of disciplines each day, including Match Sprint, Individual Pursuit, Time Trial, 1500m, Points race, Elimination, Scratch and Keirin, and the team events include Team Pursuit, Team Sprint and Madison.

Please note:

  • This event is open to South African citizens and permanent residents. In order to be eligible to enter, riders must have a valid CyclingSA membership and relevant racing licence.
  • The age categorisation for track events has changed recently with the registration year now starting on 1 October and ending on 30 September. This results in age categories being determined by one’s age on 30 September 2022.
