Attention: Event Organisers
Please be aware of the following rules and regulations pertaining to the UCI’s no needle policy and WADA’s Chemical and Physical manipulation rules that need to be implemented during races by the appointed medical staff:
- The “ban on injections”. Since Cycling SA is an affiliate of the UCI, the UCI medical rules apply. Please have a look on page 21 and 22 of the attached which refers to “Ban on Injections”.
- Irrespective whether the substance used is permitted or not, the use of Intravenous Infusions and Injections is prohibited as per the below mentioned on the 2018 WADA Prohibited List.
CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL MANIPULATION
The following are prohibited: Intravenous infusions and/or injections of more than a total of 100mL per 12 hour period except for those legitimately received in the course of hospital treatments, surgical procedures or clinical diagnostic investigations.
If more than 100ml of the substance is infused or injected per 12 hour period, then the cyclist has to apply for a TUE as per the SAIDS regulations.
