Cycling SA membership medical insurance benefit reinstated

Recently, Cycling South Africa experienced difficulties with the medical insurance membership benefit, which arose from certain financial constraints that have been documented and explained. These difficulties resulted in a lapse of the medical insurance cover benefit for memberships effected from 1 March 2017.

Cycling SA sincerely regrets this unacceptable situation for which we apologise. What is important to note is that Cycling SA, immediately after identifying the problem, set plans in place to not only rectify the membership benefit but have as of immediate effect reinstated the full benefit.

Working with our new Finance Review Committee and Treasurer, we have also instituted the necessary processes to ensure that this situation never occurs in the future.

The federation would like to assure members that we are committed to assessing and honouring member claims from affected members with a valid membership.

Cycling South Africa acknowledges that our members are our most important priority and we continue to explore ways of providing value added services to our members.

For ease of reference, we have included a brief summary of the medical insurance benefits for paid up members and request that should you have any queries in this regard, that you contact our office in Cape Town during regular office hours, on 021 917 1736.

Medical Insurance:

Cycling SA has finalised a medical emergency evacuation or transport benefit with Hollard Insurance Company for the 2017 membership cycle. Each member will receive a death benefit of R25 000, and/or Emergency Medical Treatment at a Medical Treatment Facility and Emergency Traveling costs a benefit of up to R25 000 accident cover for any cycling related accident that occurs at a Cycling SA sanctioned cycling event. The injured cyclist MUST be attended to by a medic on-site at the event where he/she is injured. This offer is only available to all Cycling SA members.

RoadCover:

ROADCOVER ensure that victims of motor vehicle accidents have immediate access to an effective Road Accident Fund (RAF) claims management system with NO costs to themselves. RoadCover removes the very difficult and complicated process that we face when processing a claim with the Road Accident Fund.

For the duration of the claim, the member receives legal representation, administration and claims management, accident reconstruction, required medico-legal reports, required actuarial reports, and past and future loss of earning reports.
