There will be five mountain bike XCO races this year as part of the SA MTB Cup Series of which four will feature a UCI category 1 rating for the Elite Men and Elite Women categories. Juniors will also be able to earn UCI points in the XCO rounds as part of UCI Junior World Series. With the Junior categories taken out of the UCI MTB World Cups, Juniors will again participate in their own world series to garner valuable UCI points. The fifth XCO race will carry a UCI Cat 2 rating.
Downhill events will not be run with the SA MTB Cup Series in 2016. Western Province and KwaZulu-Natal will use two of their provincials to double as a SA Cup event; these events are dated as 28 February and 29 May (Western Cape) and 27 March and 22 May (KZN). The results from these will be used for Selection and towards a SA Cup Series.

The Last round of the STIHL 2016 SA XCO Cup Series will be held at the Happy Valley Conservancy in the City Bloemfontein. The venue is easy accessible and in the heart of Bloemfontein, and only 13km from the Bloemfontein Airport. The Happy Valley Conservancy is surrounded by a full range of accommodation facilities, with one of the best being Solo Gracia Guesthouse http://www.sologracia.co.za/, only 1,4km from the venue.
Happy Valley Conservancy is situated in Brill Street between Harry Smith Street, Aliwal Street, Collins Road and First Avenue.

Venue
The course is 4.9km in length, with 160m vertical ascent. It features hand built single track with plenty of overtaking opportunities. With two challenging climbs of 660m (50m ascent) and 350m (40m ascent), natural rock gardens, gap jumps, drop offs and two technical downhill’s, even the most seasoned mountain biker’s skills will be tested.
Thursday the 16th of June is a public holiday, so make it a long weekend and come and see what Bloemfontein has to offer!

The fourth round of the STIHL 2016 SA XCO Cup Series will be held in Settlers Park Nature Reserve, Port Elizabeth, on a newly developed track. The track is located less than two kilometres from the Port Elizabeth Airport, St Georges Park and Cricket grounds are within walking distance. PE’s main beach (Kings Beach) and PE harbour is less than two kilometres from the track. It is possible to have a beer at Bridge Street Breweries and cycle some 800 metres along the trail to watch the race.

Short Track facts: Technically the track is not as challenging as the one in PE in 2015. The climbing is pretty hard and we are looking at a final track close to 4.2 kilometres and 190 metre elevation. There are three major climbs of 30; 35 and 45 metre elevation with pretty challenging gradients but good grip. All three climbs have passing space most of the way. Two of the climbs have really good space for passing and powering. On is jeep track all the way with excellent grip.
