Non-sanctioned cycling events participation

In addition to the article dated 2 September 2016, titled: “Participation in non-sanctioned cycling events”, Cycling South Africa would like to inform all licensed riders about the decision reached by the Cycling South Africa Mountain Bike Commission to implement sanctions as per the UCI Forbidden Race Rule 1.2.019.

For ease of reference, please see details of the UCI Forbidden Race Rule 1.2.019 and penalties referred to in rule 1.2.021:

Forbidden races

1.2.019 No licence holder may participate in an event that has not been included on a national, continental or world calendar or that has not been recognised by a national federation, a continental confederation or the UCI.

1.2.020 Licence holders may not participate in activities organised by a national federation that has been suspended, save in application of article 18.2 of the UCI constitution.

1.2.021 Breaches of articles 1.2.019 or 1.2.020 shall render the licence holder liable to one month’s suspension and a fine of CHF 50 to 100.

Cycling South Africa’s Mountain Bike Commission has determined the fine to be R1000, and failure to pay will result in the further suspension of the license until the fine is paid.

This directive affects all holders of Full Racing Licences, regardless of racing category, i.e. Elite, U23, Junior, Sub Veterans, Veterans, Masters and Grand Masters.

Please ensure that you are aware of the status of the event that you participate in by checking our Sanctioned Events Calendar at the following link: http://csams.cyclingsa.com/event-calendar.aspx. If an event you are interested in participating in is not listed, then it is not sanctioned.
