PPA CTCTT Cycling SA agreement

After long, successful negotiations, an agreement was this week concluded between Cycling South Africa (CSA), the Pedal Power Association (PPA) and the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust (CTCTT) whereby all events on the PPA calendar with a racing element will be sanctioned by Cycling SA.

Cyclists who hold CSA membership or racing licences can officially participate in all events on the PPA funride calendar.

The agreement is valid with immediate effect for an initial period of five years, renewable annually thereafter.

This allows cyclists who are CSA members to participate in events like the Cape Town Cycle Tour, Coronation Double Century, various ‘league’ races as well as other events with a racing component which form part of the PPA annual events calendar.

It was further agreed that funrides on the PPA calendar do not need to apply for sanctioning

“This agreement further cements our good relationship and provides certainty amongst our members regarding participation in PPA events,” said CSA President William Newman.

“We are delighted with the outcome of the negotiations,” said PPA Chairman Steve Hayward. “Cyclists can now get on with enjoying their sport at all levels and we look forward to growing the sport together with CSA.”
