Do you think you have what it takes to commentate for cycling? Cycling South Africa is searching for the sport’s newest commentators to cover the Federation’s national and international locally hosted cycling events.
Cycling SA will be using a video clip that has been prepared on our live streaming event-viewing channel, Streamit360. The edited clip only shows footage, and has no sound. Interested persons are required to record a voice note. The recorded voice note must be sent to Streamit360 via Whatsapp, using the following number: 071 326 4997.

Streamit360 will evaluate the voice notes received and whittle down the entries to a few finalists. The TV crew is on hand to mentor those rough diamonds that may require a little bit of polishing in order to grow into this exciting position. To this end, we encourage all walks of life from our vibrant South African culture, and with any type of commentating experience, to enter.
The commentary requirement is two-fold, and will serve a TV highlights package voice over as well as live, at-the-event commentary to keep spectators and racers informed and entertained.
Streamit360 has been instrumental in bringing cycling events to people’s homes via live streaming and web viewing. Currently, our viewership numbers have surpassed the 83,000 mark and are growing with each cycling event covered. Cycling SA used the live streaming service this year to cover our National Championship events, SA MTB Cup Series events and the UCI MTB Marathon World Championships.
Cycling SA’s drive is to nurture development and talent off the bicycle, as well as on the bike, and to develop an infrastructure for our national events, and international events hosted locally, to improve the overall image of our cycling events.
Candidates thinking of entering must have a keen interest in cycling, as they will be required to commentate on the five cycling disciplines of BMX, Track, Road, Mountain Bike and Para-cycling.
Cycling SA General Manager, Mike Bradley, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to attract a diverse mix of people to commentate in various language groups. We’re looking for women and men. The commentators will be used on an ad-hoc basis per event, so we’re on the search for a multitude of people from around the country for our range of events. This initiative adds to Cycling SA’s overall drive to develop all areas of the sport, even off the bike. If you think you have what it takes, give it a try.”
