Mutual respect towards all road users

The recent video depicting an attack on a motorist by a cyclist has sparked an outrage amongst many people, including the cycling community.

For many, cycling is a means to maintain a healthy lifestyle and to keep fit. There are also many who depend on cycling to reach their destination on a daily basis, be it for commuting to work or school.

Cycling South Africa urges all cyclists, regardless of your reasons for being on the road, to please exercise caution and obey the rules of the road. All road users should display mutual respect for one another’s lives, whether a pedestrian, runner, cyclist, motorcyclist, motorist, taxi driver or truck driver. By starting with ourselves, we can each make a difference on the road.
